Amy came up with the idea of Sand and Sip one evening, talking with friends while sipping on a glass of wine. After working for 12+ years at Almendinger Sawmill, she had seen countless customers come in and look for lumber for a project only to realize they don’t have the tools and know how to complete the project on their own. As we tossed the idea around, our concept began to emerge: Design a studio in our rustic barn, where people can create custom wood projects in a fun laid back environment. Our workshops are geared toward helping people create beautiful one of a kind hardwood décor pieces while safely socializing with old and making new friends. Each person will go home with a unique rustic wood project.
Our mission is to provide a fun friendly destination while creating your own unique rustic wood home décor with friends and family.
How does it work?
The workshops last anywhere from 2 1/2 to 4 hours depending on how many people and how much socializing your group does. We try to start promptly, we ask that if you can please arrive 15 -20 minutes before your workshop to ensure everyone gets comfortable with their creation stations.
The workshops will start with everyone choosing their own board for their project.
We will then have a short safety talk and explanation on how to use sanders.
Then we will Sand, Sip and Safely Socialize. Once your project is sanded, we will apply a coat of Odie’s Oil and as it dries, you can sip, snack and socialize, then wipe off the finish to see your completed project. Any hardware will be attached and your unique one of kind Sand and Sip project is ready to take home and enjoy!
